Soil Structure

Soil Structure - Sand, Silt, and Clay are defined by their particle size

Bacteria and Fungi (B&F) break down Parent Material (rocks & pebbles, etc.) into smaller and smaller particles, resulting in sand, silt, and clay particles. They do this so they can extract the nutrients they need, e.g. Iron, Boron, Magnesium, etc., by producing enzymes; acidic (Fungi) or alkaline (Bacteria) which enable them to deconstruct the crystalline structure of the parent materials and that of the sands, silts, and clays. This process releases nutrients that are absorbed by B&F, which are then on their way to becoming available to plants (plant-available nutrients).

Soil results in clean water; dirt results in problems
